Healthcare Veterans to Lead eConsult Pioneer, Further Driving Exponential Growth in the Expanding Telehealth Marketplace

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – September 21, 2017 – AristaMD, an innovative provider of the cloud-based eConsult platform for primary care physicians and specialists, today announced that its board of directors has promoted Brooke LeVasseur, previously chief business officer, to chief executive officer, effective immediately. At the same time, Dereck Tatman, formerly chief commercial officer, will assume the role of president and chief operating officer.

  • LeVasseur and Tatman bring deep healthcare, life sciences and biotechnology experience to their new positions. Each has successfully spearheaded the adoption of new technologies in providers’ clinical practices while establishing relationships with payers to fund and extend the coverage of those technologies.

LeVasseur is an accomplished leader with more than 15 years of experience launching healthcare products and solutions to payers and providers. Her expertise across the healthcare spectrum – from consumer health to medical devices and diagnostics – provides the industry acumen needed to guide AristaMD’s efforts to rapidly penetrate the eConsult market. Prior to joining AristaMD, she served in executive roles at Sequenom, Inc., and Veracyte, Inc.

Tatman brings 18 years of experience in new product and franchise strategy, corporate infrastructure, international sales, IP licensing, strategic corporate partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions. He has previously held various leadership positions including senior vice president at COI Pharmaceuticals, as well as senior vice president of business development and operations at Sequenom, Inc.

Jay B. Lichter, Ph.D., managing director of Avalon Ventures, who has been serving as AristaMD’s interim CEO, will remain chairman of AristaMD’s board of directors. Additionally, LeVasseur will join AristaMD’s board of directors.

AristaMD’s Smart Care Platform enables more timely access to specialty care, leading to improved patient outcomes and reduced costs. The eConsult Platform offers providers the ability to conduct eConsults with AristaMD’s national, contracted panel of board-certified specialists covering more than 40 specialties and subspecialties, with results often delivered within a few hours. Available nationally, this solution has empowered clients to realize significant cost reductions, greater specialty care access and increased care quality, as well as decreased hospital admissions and emergency room visits.

“I am honored to be chosen by the board to lead our team of talented and dedicated professionals,” said LeVasseur. “As millions of Americans struggle to obtain access to high-quality care, it is critical that payers and providers are empowered to work together in the best interests of the patient. We are committed to rapidly advancing the widespread adoption of our eConsult technology to elevate the timeliness and quality of patient care.”

“The need for proven, effective technology to help healthcare stakeholders expedite the transition to value-based care has never been more acute,” said Tatman. “We look forward to aggressively scaling our business and building our operational capabilities to accommodate the ever-increasing demand for our industry-leading telehealth solution.”

“Avalon Ventures is excited to support AristaMD as the company embarks upon the next step of its journey to optimize specialty care delivery,” said Lichter. “We are confident that the new leadership team will continue to build upon the already considerable progress that AristaMD has achieved with the eConsult Platform.”
